Sustainable Swag

Ecoplum, a company dedicated to sustainability, has been recognized for their commitment as a "B corp." This designation is given to companies that maintain high standards of performance in transparency and environmental responsibility. This seal of approval shows that the company goal of a "triple bottom line" - people, planet and profit - is being met in real and measurable ways.

In order to be certified as a B-corporation, it's not enough for a company to commit to transparency and considering stakeholders as well as shareholders. Companies must also undergo and pass a B Impact Assessment and risk review. Fewer than half of companies who apply are able to attain certification. Some major companies who have cleared this high bar are Ben & Jerry's, Danone and Burt's Bees.

Ecoplum has been making a name for themselves in sustainable swag. Companies want to enjoy the benefits of keeping their brands in front of consumers, but with overflowing landfills and ocean pollution, there is little patience these days with more plastic. Ecoplum promotional items are made from sustainable materials. In so doing, Ecoplum lets companies directly show their values to customers. Their products must meet strict standards for fair trade, biodegradability and third-party eco labels.

One way consumers can help is by looking for the 'B corp' certification on products and brands you shop for regularly. It only helps to increase the pressure on corporations to do the right thing by demanding sustainable products - even when they are given away as promotions.
